Slingshot Hip Hop weaves together the stories of young Palestinians living in Gaza, the West Bank and inside Israel as they discover Hip Hop and employ it as a tool to surmount divisions imposed by occupation and poverty. From internal checkpoints and Separation Walls to gender norms and generational differences, this is the story of young people crossing the borders that separate them.

DAM is the first and leading Palestinian rap group. Performing since the late 1990s, the group’s music is a fusion of East and West, combining Arabic percussion rythyms, Middle Eastern melodies and urban Hip Hop. DAM’s lyrics are influenced by the continuing Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well as by the Palestinian struggle for equality.
