War Resisters: “Let them stay! Week”

The War Resisters Support Campaign is asking Canadians to participate in a week of action from March 15-22 to stop the deportation of Kimberly Rivera and her family.

In Winnipeg, two events are planned with war resister Joshua Key, author of A Deserter’s Tale: The Story of an Ordinary Soldier who Walked Away from the War in Iraq.

Date: Thursday, March 19, 2009
Time: 12:30 p.m.
Place: University of Winnipeg, 515 Portage Avenue, ground floor in front of the Information Booth

Presentation and Film Screening
Date: Thursday, March 19, 2009
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Place: St. Matthews Maryland Church, 641 St. Matthews Ave (corner of Maryland Street and St. Matthews Avenue)

Both events are free of charge. Donations to the War Resisters Support Campaign would be welcomed.

Joshua will be appearing on at least two radio programs this week:

  • Wednesday, March 18, 6:45 a.m.: Joshua will be interviewed by Terry Mcleod and Marci Marcuza on CBC’s Information Radio (FM 89.3 and AM 990)
  • Thursday, March 19, between 9am and 11a.m.: Richard Cloutier will interview Joshua for CJOB’s RCR (AM 680).
