Canada's Afghanistan War: Don't extend it. End it!

Canadians have made it clear through polls, vigils, letters, petitions, rallies, and many other means, that they want American soldiers who refuse to participate in the Iraq war to be allowed to stay.
The House of Commons passed a motion in June 2008 calling for the government to stop deportation proceedings against war resisters allow them to apply for permanent resident status in Canada.
Yet the current government is continuing to try to deport resisters.
In January, there are five resisters facing deportation: Chris Teske, Cliff Cornell, Kimberly Rivera, Patrick Hart, and Dean Walcott. They need and deserve our help.
Please join this demonstration to let the federal government know Winnipeggers, like most Canadians everywhere, welcome war resisters.

Project Safe Haven is working with Veterans For Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War and others to join in the Phone-In to Canadian government officials and to gather U.S. signatures for the Open Letter to Stephen Harper. We are also preparing to defend any war resisters who may be deported.
PLUS, we are beginning to organize a U.S. Veterans Tour of Canada to show solidarity with the courageous war resisters and their wonderful Canadian supporters. We are going to start in B.C. in early March. Would you like us to come to Winnipeg?
