DESCRIPTION:Notice of PAW AGM\nPlease plan to attend the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the Peace Alliance Winnipeg. Our theme this year is Building the peace movement to confront crisis\, war and genocide. \nDate: Saturday\, April 12\, 2025\nTime: 1:00 to 4:00 PM\nPlace: West End Commons\, 365 McGee Street\, Winnipeg (map) \nThis year’s meeting will feature a keynote address by Manitoba author Owen Schalk entitled “Confronting imperialism in the age of Western decline.” Owen is a columnist for Canadian Dimension\, the author of Canada in Afghanistan: A story of military\, diplomatic\, political and media failure\, 2003-2023 and the co-author of Canada’s Long Fight Against Democracy with Yves Engler. At the moment\, he is working on two more books: one on Canada’s role in the 2011 war on Libya\, and another that will make the case for Canada’s withdrawal from NATO. \nThis year is an election year for the PAW Executive; to vote\, or to stand for election\, you must be a paid-up member in good standing. Membership in Peace Alliance Winnipeg is open to any individual. Membership dues are $20 per year. If you are interested in joining or getting on our email list\, click here.
