On Saturday, August 12 about 150 people staged a one hour demonstration outside Government of Canada offices located in the heart of downtown Winnipeg at Main and Water.
The location was chosen to highlight the complicity of the Harper government in supporting Israel’s war on the people and infrastructure of Lebanon. A large banner read: “Condemn Harper’s Support for Israeli Aggression.” The demonstration was joined by many members of Winnipeg’s Lebanese community who waved the flag of Lebanon as a symbol of their resistance.
The demonstration received a great deal of support from those driving by the busy intersection.
